Daryl Dickson |
Daryl was born in London, educated in South Australia and has spent many years traveling and working abroad. An enthusiastic artist from childhood , Daryl is self taught and has had no formal art training . Her medium of preference is watercolour but she also works, from time to time, in pencil, gouache & acrylic.
As a member of the Wildlife Artist Society of Australasia, her passion for Australian wildlife is evident with most works depicting the fine detail of Australia's beautiful and unique flora and fauna.
"My two great passions in life are wildlife and art. As a wildlife carer, I am so fortunate to have close contact with some of north Queensland's rarest and most endangered species. Our home in the Kennedy Valley in tropical Far North Queensland, is shared with an amazing diversity of unique flora and fauna providing endless inspiration, interest and colour.
My work and income are derived from these magnificent north Queensland landscapes, habitats and creatures. My sole reason for selecting this place as my home is the exceptional and rich natural environment of the tropical north. I believe it is very important for us all to realize that many people like me earn their living, not by changing their environment or by extracting it's resources but by becoming part of it and in the case of artists by sharing images of this very precious place with others.
We are surrounded by some of the most rare, ancient and beautiful landscapes and creatures on earth. We are privileged indeed!" "I hope my work shares some of the beauty and uniqueness of our precious Australian flora and fauna with others, in the hope that we will care for it and conserve it for generations to come"
Daryl's original artworks are held in private collections in Australia, Europe & the USA. In addition to her original works Daryl has developed a range of Limited Edition fine art prints, wildlife cards and small prints that are available at selected venues throughout Australia. |
